About the Children’s Foundation:
The Children’s Foundation is the state’s largest funder dedicated solely to advancing the health and wellness of the children of Michigan. Through funding and advocacy dedicated to three core pillars – Community Benefit, Pediatric Research and Medical Education – the Children’s Foundation enables researchers and community organizations to identify and implement innovations capable of advancing children’s health. Our current areas of focus include mental health, nutritional wellness, abuse and neglect, oncology and cardiology research and injury prevention.
The Donor Relations Intern at the Children’s Foundation (CF) will gain valuable experience in donor stewardship and fundraising strategies. The duration of the internship will be the length of a school year, with the potential to be extended. This intern will play an integral role as part of the fundraising team, conducting high-level donor and prospect research for CF.

Attend staff meetings and other relevant events as requested.
A proactive attitude demonstrating a desire to be creative and collaborative.
Occasional late night and/or weekend hours will be required.
Review, Edit and Write Fund Raising Copy
Write Features on donors to be shared out via email, social, etc.
Formalize presentations for volunteer committees
Take meeting minutes and organize meetings (team, individual and corporate)
Donor and Prospect Research
Support Donor Stewardship with events, calls or written correspondence
Assist in the build out of the entrepreneurial sector strategy
Design, implement and launch a giving campaign for younger donors with coaching from staff
Support Gift Processing and Recognition as needed
Assist with donation pick up/drop off when needed
Support for other CF departments as needed
Front desk coverage
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
Proactive and a self-starter
Attention to details and organizational skills
Able to respond well to pressure
An excellent communicator
Positive ‘can-do’ attitude
Being passionate about nonprofit missions and issues surrounding children
Demonstrated communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Strong writing and proofreading skills
Works well in a team and with a wide range of people
Ability to think creatively and critically to identify and solve problems
Experience or training in project management would be a plus
Currently enrolled as a college sophomore or junior studying Public Relations, journalism, or related concentrations
Interns will be compensated at an hourly rate for an average of 20 hours per week. The internship will be from August – May.
