
About the Children’s Foundation:
The Children’s Foundation is the state’s largest funder dedicated solely to advancing the health and wellness of the children of Michigan. Through funding and advocacy dedicated to three core pillars – Community Benefit, Pediatric Research and Medical Education – the Children’s Foundation enables researchers and community organizations to identify and implement innovations capable of advancing children’s health. Our current areas of focus include mental health, nutritional wellness, abuse and neglect, oncology and cardiology research and injury prevention.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Outreach Coordinator will support the Marketing team in various capacities, including but not limited to, coordination and execution of community events and sponsorships, management of the Foundation’s internship and mascot programs, volunteer management, and staff engagement opportunities. This individual will be a key part of the Marketing Team and plays an active role in marking initiatives and growing brand awareness for the Foundation.

Daily Responsibilities
- Manage the Foundation’s internship program. Oversee interns and provide assistance when needed. Implement a project for the intern team to work on that is beneficial for their learning experience and for the Foundation
- Manage budget and onboarding for interns
- Conduct intern interviews and selection of interns
- Lead the implementation or coordination of The Foundation mascot program. This includes managing performers and appearances and budget.
- Comfortable writing, editing and updating Foundation related content.
- Act as “brand ambassador” for The Foundation
- An excellent writer and communicator, the Coordinator will assist in increasing, broadening and sharing the Foundation’s storytelling efforts, as well as making the general public aware of The Foundation’s mission and work.
- Works collaboratively on fliers, invitations, brochures, public relations, and media relations
- Draft and assist with content for communications related to community outreach including electronic, web content, and letters
- Manage and lead a variety of outreach/marketing activities and events in the local community
- Assist with the coordination of the Little Champion Program
- Assist with building the Foundation’s content library
- Other duties as applicable
Qualifications
- Proactive and a self-starter – Creativity is key to this role.
- Knowledge of social media strategy, email marketing and event planning
- Knowledge of video creation and photography
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Able to respond well to pressure
- An excellent communicator
- Demonstrated experience in project management
- Demonstrated communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Works well in a team and with a wide range of people
- Ability to think creatively and critically to identify and solve problems
- Knowledge of Luminate online desired
- Photoshop experience preferred
Educational Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, PR or a similar field required.
- Experience: 5-7 years of related experience preferred in Account Management, Communications, Marketing, PR, Advertising or other related
