About the Children’s Foundation:
The Children’s Foundation is the state’s largest funder dedicated solely to advancing the health and wellness of the children of Michigan. Through funding and advocacy dedicated to three core pillars – Community Benefit, Pediatric Research and Medical Education – the Children’s Foundation enables researchers and community organizations to identify and implement innovations capable of advancing children’s health. Our current areas of focus include mental health, nutritional wellness, abuse and neglect, oncology and cardiology research and injury prevention.
The Video & Communications Intern at the Children’s Foundation (CF) will gain valuable experience in content development, branding and communication strategies. The duration of the internship will be the length of a school year, with the potential to be extended. This intern will play an integral role as part of the marketing and communications team, developing high-level materials to generate brand awareness for CF. Projects will include creating a video series and assisting other CF departments as needed.

Attend staff meetings and other relevant events as requested.

Occasional late night and/or weekend hours will be required.
Assist in the creation of video series: script writing, video editing, and interviewing
Grow brand representation in the community through assistance with the planning and implementation of a consistent visual identity for CF.
Develop and create content for external and internal use to be distributed via the website, emails, and printed materials
Assist in on-location and off-location video shoots regarding the set-up, production, and tear-down of lighting, audio, and camera equipment
Collaborate with other interns to complete tasks as needed
Draft press releases, blog articles, radio spots, etc.
Assist with donation pick up/drop off when needed
Support for other CF departments as needed
Front desk coverage
Basic knowledge in audio for video production
Basic knowledge in lighting set-up for video production
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Apple Products (Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, etc.,)
Photo and video editing skills
Proactive and a self-starter
Attention to details and organizational skills
Able to respond well to pressure
An excellent communicator
Demonstrated communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Strong writing and proofreading skills
Works well in a team and with a wide range of people
Proficient with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Ability to think creatively and critically to identify and solve problems
Currently enrolled as a college sophomore or junior in Broadcasting and Film, Film Studies, or another related major, or related concentrations
Interns will be compensated at an hourly rate for an average of 20 hours per week. The internship will be from August – May.
