The Children’s Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded 89 grants in 2023.
Combined, these awards total more than $3.8 million to support projects in the Community Benefit, Research, and Education pillars. Since 2011, The Foundation has granted $80 million to partners in our community.
The Children’s Foundation remains dedicated to the health and well-being of children and their families by working collaboratively with other organizations in the community.
On January 1, The Children’s Foundation welcomed a new President & CEO, Andrew Stein. As The Foundation enters this exciting new chapter, it is likely dates of grant rounds may adjust based on evaluation of short- and long-term strategies which will help create meaningful change. DLIVE to help support salary for a therapist in a program to assist youth affected by violence
Detroit YMCA to provide swim lessons and water safety instructions to Detroit children

Blessings in a Backpack to provide weekend and school break backpacks of food to food-insecure students in southeast Michigan
Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to provide fresh, nutritious food and personal products at no charge to food-insecure children
Forgotten Harvest to provide fresh, nutritious food to families with small children via Forgotten Harvest’s mobile food pantry
Gleaners to provide fresh milk and produce to food-insecure families with children through Gleaners pantry sites
Children’s Hospital of Michigan to support the purchase of distraction items and tools for use by the Child Life staff as well as toys for the hospital playrooms
Birth Detroit to support the purchase of an ultrasound machine, as well as childbirth education literature, to help improve birth statistics in Detroit
University Pediatricians to provide a memorable party for patients of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan palliative care unit and their families
Children’s Hospital of Michigan to support the Snowpile holiday gift program as well as other special events for patients
The Farm at St. Joe’s to support community food shares for food-insecure families with children in Pontiac
New Hope Center for Grief Support to support programming to help youth and families learn to cope with grief
Children’s Hospital of Michigan to support a part-time coordinator salary and purchase of books for the Reach Out and Read program
Children’s Hospital of Michigan to support the purchase of bandages and ointments to be given to burn patients whose insurance does not cover these items
Wayne State University to provide free therapy sessions for children with communication disorders whose insurance does not or has ceased to cover these services
The Rainbow Connection to support families experiencing financial hardship related to the medical care or special needs of a child
