Hello and welcome to May. It is a beautiful month in Michigan and beyond as spring has finally arrived.
Spring also brings a number of activities at The Children’s Foundation that continue to keep us on the move.
We recently had a very successful Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health Summit. This two-day virtual event was informational and extremely impactful to over 140 attendees. Many thanks to all our speakers and sponsors for making this a great event. Special thanks to our presenting sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
On Saturday, May 1, we hosted the Fifth Annual Derby for Kids at the fabulous Country Club of Detroit. The weather cooperated and we surpassed our three-year commitment to the University of Michigan, Mott Children’s Hospital as well as to Children’s Hospital of Michigan supporting world-class pediatric cancer research.
Derby day was filled with festive cocktails, great food and delightful entertainment as everyone enjoyed, dressed in their favorite derby attire. Bowties and hats were seen everywhere! For photos from the event, click here.
I’d like to warmly welcome our first ever executive director of the Jamie Daniels Foundation. Mr. Chris Perry joined us as of May 1 and will be leading all fundraising and outreach initiatives for this important affiliate of The Children’s Foundation.
We also want to welcome Rocket Mortgage to The Children’s Foundation family as the presenting sponsor for the Ben Hogan Championship of Michigan, Presented by Rocket Mortgage. All proceeds from this tournament will benefit the First Tee-Greater Detroit.
As I said, May brings many new activities and exciting initiatives for The Children’s Foundation. Thank you for your ongoing support and we hope to see you in person in the near future.
Thanks again,
Lawrence J. Burns
