A letter from Larry – July 2022

Hello and welcome to July. One of the busiest months of the year for many of us.

The Children’s Foundation’s summer is full of golf outings and other great fundraising events, all benefiting our six focus areas including our newest one in Youth Development.

The 19th Annual Paul W. Smith Golf Classic will take place on Monday, July 11 at the famous Detroit Golf Club. This annual event supports four impactful organizations that include Detroit PAL, Variety Children’s Charity of Detroit, The Children’s Center and our very own, The Children’s Foundation. This annual event has raised millions of dollars for Detroit kids and their families.

Speaking of golf, The Children’s Foundation will again be extremely involved in the Rocket Mortgage Classic with a focus on First Tee – Greater Detroit, Midnight Golf, and other partners. Look for more information regarding these activities in the coming weeks.

Our affiliate organization, Leaders For Kids is back in action again with Summer Recess. This year’s event will take place on July 16 at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac and will benefit several programs at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Many thanks to Co-Chair Greg Bockart and our many generous sponsors.

In case you missed it, learn more about our latest grant awards – including 17 new community partners – which brings our total awards for this year to more than $7 million!

Thanks for all your support, and here’s hoping you have a wonderful July. I look forward to keeping in touch with you throughout the month on social media, our newsletter, and elsewhere.

As I like to say we’re…. on the move!

Onward!
