Hello and I hope you’ve been enjoying September!
Before I share with you some exciting news ahead, I wanted to fill you in on a few important highlights from the past weeks.
Last month, we hosted our Second Annual Ben Hogan Championship of Michigan which benefited our initiative, First Tee – Greater Detroit (FTGD). With the support of the Ben Hogan Foundation and our presenting sponsor, Detroit Pistons, we raised more than $100,000. Funding will go toward a learning center that will transform the local First Tee program and impact more youth. Photos from the event are available, here.
You can also join FTGD at their upcoming 100 Hole Challenge on Saturday, September 24. More details here.
We also recently visited Muskegon to present one of our newest community partners, Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore, with a $35,000 grant to support a quiet space for teens and water safety education. It was wonderful to share this moment with the local members of the community at the Lakeshore Jazz Festival.
Later this week we will be celebrating the 2022 NAIAS Detroit Auto Show as one of six proud charity recipients. I invite you to join us for the indoor and outdoor exhibits, a first-look at sleek new auto designs, and a performance by Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Nile Rodgers and his band CHIC. You can purchase your tickets here — and please designate The Children’s Foundation as your beneficiary.
We also are looking forward to welcoming the inaugural class of Detroit Philanthropic Youth Council in September. This is an effort we’ve established in partnership with the Catholic Foundation of Michigan and Pulte Family Foundation. Local high schoolers will award $50,000 in grant support to community organizations as they learn the importance of philanthropy.
Well, that’s this month’s recap. I look forward to seeing you soon and thank you for your continued support.
Onward!
