Kelly Brittain

Vice President of Impact

Dr. Kelly Brittain is the Vice President of Impact at the Children’s Foundation of Michigan and is responsible for developing and executing a thoughtful strategy to improve the mental and physical health of children in Michigan. With over 25 years in public health and experience in philanthropy, health care, and academia, Kelly has a passion for health equity, management expertise, and experience working with grants committees and boards.

Most recently, Kelly served as a Senior Program Officer at the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation and was responsible for research and community health grant-making in Mid, West, and Northern Michigan. Additionally, she was responsible for Statewide capacity-building grant-making and addressing health equity, maternal and infant outcomes, and substance use disorder.

As an Associate Professor at the Michigan State University College of Nursing, she taught undergraduate nursing courses and was an NIH-funded and published researcher in the areas of informed decision-making, sociocultural identity, and health outcomes. Kelly’s nursing career began at Children’s Hospital
of Michigan and her health care experiences range from school-based health centers, parish nursing, care management, primary care, and the community and patients at Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Kelly is a two-time graduate of the Wayne State University College of Nursing. Her Ph.D. in Nursing with a concentration on health promotion & risk reduction is from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Kelly is a mom, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Detroit Alumnae Chapter and a lifelong learner dedicated to improving the health of all.

Rick DiBartolomeo

Vice President of Finance

Rick is a hands-on, results-driven, financial management professional with over 40 years of broad experience in finance, accounting and operations. He is a proven leader in driving strategic decisions and performance with demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for growth, cost savings, and implementation of process improvements.  

He is an effective listener who understands the needs of an organization and is a resourceful, enthusiastic problem-solver. Rick possesses solid leadership, communications and interpersonal skills and establishes rapport with all levels of staff and management.

In the role of Vice President of Finance, Rick provides progressive financial and operational leadership expertise acquired from his extensive experience.

Rick earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from Western Michigan University and a Masters of Science in Finance from Walsh College. He is a CPA in the state of Michigan. He currently serves on the board of directors of Forgotten Harvest (Past Board Chair), Judson Center (Past Board Chair) and Judson Center and Walsh College Foundations.

Brian Kilkelly

Vice President of Strategy

Brian currently serves as Vice President of Strategy for the Children’s Foundation of Michigan. In this role, he supports the Foundation’s strategy development, alignment, continuous improvement, and organizational development efforts.

Prior to the Children’s Foundation of Michigan, Brian was a Managing Director at City Year Detroit. In that role, he communicated with and managed relationships between City Year Detroit and the organization’s largest funders including seven-figure investors like Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD), the Ballmer Group, and the state commission for AmeriCorps programs in Michigan. Those efforts led to investment renewals from the Ballmer Group and an increase in financial support from DPSCD and the state AmeriCorps agency from 2018 to 2022. He also helped lead City Year Detroit’s executive team through strategic planning processes and supported other strategic initiatives to help advance City Year’s pursuit of equity as a youth-serving, education-focused non-profit.

Brian was the inaugural Fellow at the Einhorn Family Charitable Trust (now Einhorn Collaborative), supporting all operational, programmatic, and strategic initiatives of the Foundation. A proud City Year AmeriCorps alumnus, Brian served two years with City Year Washington, DC, the first in a seventh-grade classroom and the second as a Learning and Development Project Leader. Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Andrew Stein

President & Chief Executive Officer

Andrew Stein joined the Children’s Foundation of Michigan as President & CEO in January 2023.  Andrew was drawn to this role because of the unique platform the Foundation offers to address the health and wellness of children in his home community of Southeast Michigan.

Kids have been at the center of everything Andrew has done professionally.  For 14 years, he was a part of City Year, serving in a variety of leadership positions.  Beginning as an AmeriCorps Member working full-time in Washington, DC Public Schools, Andrew eventually became the Executive Director of City Year Detroit, where he more than doubled the size of the organization, increasing the number of students served every day from 2,500 to 7,000. 

Andrew is an alumnus of Detroit Country Day School, Michigan State University, and Georgetown Law School. He lives in Detroit with his wife and three children. He is active in the community, serving as treasurer of New Detroit, a board member of the Sherwood Forest Association, and numerous other coalitions and committees focused on children, education, and workforce development.  He was the recipient of the Detroit Young Professionals Vanguard award and Leadership Detroit Class XXXVIII.
