Hello! And welcome to March.
The Children’s Foundation continues to evolve in many different areas impacting the lives of children, young adults and families. I am particularly excited to announce a new year-round initiative, working with my friend, Paul W. Smith, and his lovely wife, Kim.
As an extension of the Paul W. Smith Golf Classic, the Paul W.’s Caring for Kids Club will be a major fundraising initiative for four impactful organizations. They are Detroit PAL, The Children’s Center, Variety Detroit and our very own Children’s Foundation.
Paul W.’s Caring for Kids Club will be ongoing, raising funds and awareness for these charities and others impacting children and families in the future.
Donors will have the opportunity to engage with our nonprofit partners, become more familiar with their work and help us expand our overall financial support. Stay tuned for more exciting information!
March is also Child Life Month. Our support of Child Life at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan is one of our more long-standing partnerships making a child’s hospital experience less stressful and frightening.
The Children’s Foundation provides funding to help children experience more everyday activities while they are in the hospital, including music therapy, art therapy and my personal favorite, the wonderful pet therapy program.
We’re also getting ready for two important events in May:
The Fourth Annual Derby for Kids is on May 2 at the Country Club of Detroit. This fun-filled event raises funds for world class brain cancer research at Mott Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. This is an event you don’t want to miss – tickets are now on sale!
The Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Summit is on May 12 at the Inn at St. John’s. The Summit provides community stakeholders the opportunity to learn, listen and share ideas on how to prioritize behavioral healthcare for children and families. Preview the agenda and reserve your spot, today!
