Earlier this month, Burns traveled to Fort Worth, Texas as a guest of First Tee Fort Worth and the Ben Hogan Foundation.
Hello and welcome to fall and October.
The Children’s Foundation is planning for a very busy fall as we get ready for the Jamie Daniels Foundation’s Second Annual Celebrity Roast. This year the virtual event will be celebrating the career of Hall of Fame NHL legend, Scotty Bowman. This event is raising funds to support The Jamie Daniels Foundation’s efforts to educate individuals regarding Substance Use Disorder and recovery.
I am also very excited to report that The Children’s Foundation Board of Trustees has officially approved the first ever formal strategic plan for The Foundation. This initiative will be a pathway for The Foundation for the next 3 to 5 years. Look for more details in upcoming Onward impact reports that now come out quarterly.
We are also making great progress in our new initiative which is the First Tee of Greater Detroit. I am pleased to announce Mary Ann Lievois has joined as the executive director of First Tee and is the newest member of our Children’s Foundation family. A warm welcome to Mary Ann. In the next few months will be putting together a board of directors for First Tee and getting ready to increase the important programs offered to the youth of Detroit and Southeastern Michigan.
That is it for now and I look forward to keeping you informed as we continue to be on the move!
Sincerely,
Lawrence J. Burns
