A letter from Larry – March 2022

Hello and welcome to March.

Well, as we get closer to spring and much warmer weather, The Children’s Foundation continues to be on the move.

We’re busy getting ready for a number of key events that will take place which include the Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health Summit at the Inn at St. John’s on April 12. In many different respects, this event is an important part of our commitment to mental health.

We are not only a funder of many programs helping children, young adults, and families but we are taking an active role in advocacy throughout the state and beyond. We continue to be a participant in the Washington-based Root Cause Coalition, which is committed to improving the social determinants of health within our health systems and everyday lives.

As May approaches, we have a new event, Comedy Night of Hope, to benefit the Jamie Daniels Foundation. This will be a delightful evening with a serious purpose continuing to fundraise for programs helping college students and others recovering from the disease known as substance use disorder.

And also, on May 7 is our 6th Annual Derby for Kids! This annual event is at the fabulous Country Club of Detroit and this year there is fundraising for a new project to helping young people recover from addiction.

As you can see, we are getting ready for an action-packed spring. March also brings extended daylight and we all can use a bit more sunshine. Lastly, it wouldn’t be a true March update without wishing everyone a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️

Onward!
