A letter from Larry – May 2022

Hello and welcome to May. May has always been a favorite month of mine with spring in action and the promise of warmer and sunnier days ahead.

Speaking of sunny days, we recently held our Sixth Annual Derby for Kids at the Country Club of Detroit. It was indeed a day full of sunshine, festivities, and more than 500 people gathering to raise funds for our efforts in helping those suffering from adolescent substance use disorder.  Thanks you to those that supported the event – we are still totaling the funds!

Thanks to our wonderful committee members and staff, this year’s event was the most successful one yet. And how about the Kentucky Derby itself, a race that will be remembered forever.

The Jamie Daniels Foundation also recently held its first annual Comedy Night of Hope.  This was also a great success with close to 400 people attending two different comedy shows to raise nearly $45,000 –  all benefiting the initiatives of the Jamie Daniels Foundation in substance use disorder prevention and recovery.

We also are getting close to our next grant cycle which will be announced in a few short weeks. I’m anticipating several new grantees along with continuing relationships with many of our 140 partners across the state of Michigan, Ohio and now Florida.

As you can see, spring brings a great deal of activity for The Children’s Foundation as we continue to be on the move helping children, adolescence, young adults, and their families.

Thank you.

Onward!
