A letter from Larry – April 2020

Hello! And welcome to April.

I hope this finds you and your family healthy and safe during this most unusual and challenging time. In response to ongoing pandemic, our Board of Trustees recently established the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. Swift action has allowed us to allocate $250,000 for immediate help to our partners, providing them with support in the earliest stages of closures and shutdowns.

Many of our current grantees, along with other select local non-profits, have received funding to support emergency needs, such as food and supplies, which enables them to continue to serve the children and families of our communities. Partners such as Starfish Family Services and Brilliant Detroit have received $10,000 during these unique times.

We will continue to reach out to other partners and respond to additional requests over the next several weeks.

Since the beginning, one of our main priorities has been the health and safety of our employees. For several weeks now, The Foundation staff has been working remotely. We are using technology in new ways to bring our colleagues together and to keep our operational priorities on track.

We will learn, adjust, grow and improve, together, as we get through these difficult weeks ahead. I know that we will come out of this even stronger and a better organization serving children, young adults and families in Michigan and beyond.

As we look beyond Coronavirus, The Children’s Foundation prepare for a new grant cycle later this spring and always planning for new and dynamic ways to support children and families through fundraising initiatives, partnerships and more

There’s no better time than to say with confidence…Onward together!

Be safe and stay healthy.
